Lens Ports

The single most important feature is the new Dry Lock (DL) port system. This exciting new system is designed to be robust and easy to assemble. It is built for reliable performance in the most remote of locations, meaning that their are no complex moving parts that may break and jeopardize your shoot.

Our new DL series ports are lighter and more adaptable than their FL counterparts. They accommodate popular large diameter, full-frame lenses with ease. If you're considering shooting professional quality lenses like the Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L III, then the DL system is essential.

Most popular zoom lenses and select lens focus rings can be engaged using a simple yet effective gearing system that puts adjustment right at your fingertips. A large, soft-touch lobed knob on the side of the housing makes fine tuned adjustments a breeze. Zoom and focus gears differ depending on which lens you are using. All are lightweight and affordable. Refer to the DL System Port Chart to choose the correct gear. Zoom gears sold separately.

Using Legacy Four Lock (FL) Ports

Due to differences in mount diameter and zoom engagement, DL and FL system ports cannot be used interchangeably. The DL port mount may be removed and replaced with the Port Locks for FL Port System (Set of 4) # 5509.04 for legacy users with standard or modular ports from our Four Lock system. This modification will prevent the use of newer DL ports. The housing cannot be converted back and forth repeatedly. Re-installation of the DL port base will require the housing to be returned to Ikelite or an Authorized Dealer and will incur additional service charges. There are significant advantages to upgrading your lens ports which you can read about here. For example, if you're shooting an 8" diameter dome, you'll also save almost 2 pounds by using the DL version instead.

Vacuum System

The included vacuum valve allows you to vacuum test the housing to check for leaks prior to putting your expensive equipment in the water. Combined with a full view of the camera and o-ring seal through the back of the housing, there is no greater assurance that your gear will be safe. Our signature open-groove design suspends the rear o-ring in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel.

Use of the vacuum valve requires a compatible Vacuum Pump with Gauge # 47011, sold separately.

TTL Exposure

This housings supports your choice of shooting with manual strobe exposure or adding a TTL converter depending on your application. The flash bulkhead is located on the top of the case to alleviate strain on the sync cord.

You can enjoy the fastest and most accurate TTL exposure on the market by adding the CT1K Canon TTL Kit # 46070 and a compatible Ikelite DS strobe. Exposure compensation can be used added or subtracted in the camera.

Reliable locking connectors between the hotshoe and bulkhead make it easy to install the optional CT1K TTL Kit or carry back up parts when traveling to remote locations.

Controls and Set-Up

The shutter and AF-ON controls are set apart by ergonomic and sensitive curved lever actuators. Both controls can optionally be extended using the Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.93 for more comfortable use when using a right-hand quick release handle. If you're not already using back button focus, we recommend learning this valuable trick.

All knob controls are upgraded to our new soft-touch design which gives you extra grip and feels good whether you're diving with gloves or bare hands. Our push buttons have been redesigned to reduce weight and salt build-up. The back of the housing features laser engraved control symbols which will never fade or fall off.

Control placement mimics the way you use the camera on the surface to take advantage of muscle memory and avoid the need to re-learn your camera's controls.

The camera mount is front-loading for easy installation and removal. A small mounting plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and secures in the front of the housing. The camera mounting plate does not need to be removed from the camera for surface use or when changing the battery or memory cards. The mounting plate features a 1/4-20 threaded mount on the bottom so that it can be attached to a tripod on the surface.

Rear View

The clear acrylic back provides a full view of the camera, o-ring, LCD screen. The camera's Access Lamp is visible through the back.

Viewfinders

The included SuperEye Viewfinder provides an enhanced view of the camera's optical viewfinder when viewed through a dive mask. The viewfinder removes quickly and easily for the attachment of an optional Straight Magnified Viewfinder # 6890 or 45° Magnified Viewfinder (Type 2) # 6891.2.

Handling & Travel

Overall the housing is over 1/2 pound lighter than a typical FL counterpart. Our new hard anodized aluminum base with quick release handle has also been streamlined for travel and is over 3/4 pound lighter than our previous DSLR tray and handle system. The Right-Hand Quick Release Handle # 4077.02 (sold separately) can be added or removed depending on how you want to shoot. The precision machined aluminum base features 1/4-20 tripod mounting sockets and additional mounting locations for future accessories. Plus, the base and handle can be quickly removed when breaking down your system for travel.

A 1/4-20 threaded mounting point is located front and center on the housing above the lens port mount. This mount can be used to attach lightweight accessories like a focus light or GoPro camera.

If you're shooting with two strobe or lighting arms, then a top handle can be added to make the system easier to carry to and from the dive site. Top handles are available in a Cable Grip # 4080.07 or Aluminum Top Handle # 4080.08. The rigid aluminum version provides additional mounting points for lighting and accessories.

Construction

Our new white ABS-PC blend front is stronger than its clear counterpart, provides improved contrast and visibility, and keeps your camera running cooler in the sun. This material is 1/3 of the specific gravity of aluminum, making the housing much lighter and fundamentally corrosion free.

The unique rear seal design prevents accidental twisting or stretching of the o-ring for simple and confident assembly. We have eliminated the need for an o-ring groove or channel which can trap sand, dirt, or debris. Two double-passivated stainless steel locking lid snaps are simple to use and virtually unbreakable. The clear back allows you to see the o-ring form a solid, watertight seal as it closes.

A spare 1/2-20 threaded accessory port is included on the top of the housing near the bulkhead for expansion to future uses.

Like all of our housings, this product is made in the USA, individually inspected for fit, and water pressure tested to 200 feet (60m).

Ikelite DS Strobes

Ikelite DS series strobes can be used in manual exposure modes when attached directly to the housing using Single Sync Cord # 45151 or Dual Sync Cord # 45152. Install the ST1K Sony Alpha TTL Kit # 46040 for the most accurate exposure and fastest triggering on the market. The TTL Kit installs quickly and easily and requires no batteries to weaken or die during your shoot. Only Ikelite DS strobes are capable of powering up and communicating with the TTL Kit.

Ikelite Non-Digital Strobes

Older non-digital strobes featuring an ICS-5 electrical sync cord bulkhead can be used with this system in manual exposure modes.

SEA&SEA, INON, or Retra Strobes

SEA&SEA, INON, or Retra strobes with an electrical connection can be triggered in manual exposure modes using Single Sync Cord # 45281 or Dual Sync Cord # 45282. Strobes without an electrical sync cord connection cannot be attached to this system unless slaved off of a hard-wired strobe.

Fiber Optic

Fiber optic only strobes are not compatible with this installation. An external strobe must be connected by electrical sync cord.

Remote Triggering

Strobes with remote slave capabilities may be triggered off of a flash attached to the housing by electrical sync cord. Ikelite DS strobes support remote triggering using the Optical Slave Converter # 4405 or the Water Wizard system (manufactured and sold by Aquatica).

Compatibility

This housing is only compatible with Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 5D Mark IV, 5DS, and 5DS R cameras as shipped by the manufacturer. Unless otherwise noted, this housing does not accommodate the use of add-on grips, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD covers, or other accessories.

Differences in lens and control placement prevent other camera models from being used in this housing. This housing is not usable with prior 5D (Mark I) or 5D Mark II cameras. We are not aware of any other models which may be used in or adapted to this particular housing.

What is Liquidated Stock?

When a business or firm is terminated or bankrupt, its assets are sold and the proceeds pay creditors.

Basically 100s of electronic company's / suppliers up and down the country are terminated or go bankrupt every day. Their stock is then sold off in order to pay creditors. We step in and buy pallets and pallets of this stock at very low prices.

We have also now established deals with large UK distributors who sell off last year’s stock or excess stock for companies.

When the new TV models / appliances are released for that particular year - the big retailers want to sell off the previous year’s stock as quickly as possible. That’s where we step in.

How can we ensure the TV / appliance is New / Unused?

Every Product supplied to us goes through the same quality check

1) Serial numbers are checked to ensure the warranty is valid or retailer warranty provided.

2) TVs - Service menu is accessed in each product in order to validate the viewing hours on each TV - basically this will show if the Product has been previously used as a display model.

3) Any Product that does not conform to the above is rejected and sold off to local traders.

4)  We will only sell a Product that conforms to the above - The margins are so tight on each item that it does not make any business sense for us to send a product out that might be rejected by the customer.

What is the warranty?

All of our items come with a manufacturer’s / smartappliancesuk warranty - Any technical fault with the item and we will resolve the issue for you as quickly as possible. This gives you the customer full peace of mind. Physical damage to the item is not covered or any attempt to repair by anyone which has not been authorised by smartappliancesuk.

What will my item include?

All of our items come with:

  • Remote and power cable.
  • Some TVs require both a regular and SMART remote which we will provide.
  • All TVs come with the screws and stand unless a wall bracket is requested.
  • If your TV requires a connect box then this will be provided
  • 99% of TV's now come with an E-Manaul - This is an electronic manual via the TV menu. We cannot guarantee your item will include a paper manual, however we can send you a downloadable one, just pop us an email.
  • Not all sound bars will include brackets.
  • Please note some items may be in an open box condition where the original packaging my not be pristine also the original paper work may not be included.

What is the item condition?

** Please note the item description will supersede the generic description below - below is the worst case scenario **

** Please note this is not a brand new sealed item direct from the manufacturer unless stated on the product description **

All of our items are in excellent condition and all of our stock is new. Every TV is checked and tested before sending for quality purposes. All components are checked before packaging. All TV's and components are security marked. All TV's come with a full warranty!

On occasion we have noticed a TV may have a small scuff/mark on the back. This is at most 1 in every 100 TV's. We not send out a TV with any marks to the screen or front facing bezel. Also on occasion the box may not be in the best condition or we may swap the box for our own to ensure a safe delivery.

How to Claim a Free Extended warranty!

All SmartAppliancesUK products come with the manufacturers/ retailers 1 year warranty as standard.

Here are a few SMART ideas to extend the warranty on your New TV -

Why pay on average £425 more for a TV at Currys with an extra 4 years warranty? Modern TV's with mature advanced technology can easily last the life of a 5 year warranty with no issues! Do not be fooled by this sales pitch.

The most common problem with TV's these days is the screen being broken rather than any electronic parts failing!

Please do not fall into the trap of the "5 year warranty" deals - Save your hard earned cash buy with MYSMARTTVS and use the options below to claim an extended warranty!

  • Warranties sold in shops are often massively over-priced

Many shops will try to flog a warranty on virtually everything - even if the goods only cost a few quid.

Sometimes the warranties cost almost as much as buying a new product. In which case, it's better to take the risk, save the money, and buy a new one if your product breaks.

But if you do want an extended warranty, you can buy an insurance product which covers multiple products, or use a handy comparison tools which searches for the cheapest option. With the comparison site the warranty and the item don't necessarily have to be purchased from the same shop, giving you time to find the best deal.

  • Free extra year's warranty available with packaged Bank account

An extended warranty is provided as standard if you have the Nationwide FlexPlus account as part of its £10/mth package of extras. It gives an extra year's cover after the manufacturer's guarantee expires.

As most manufacturers automatically include a year's guarantee, that means you can get two years for no cost.

The account also includes worldwide travel insurance, mobile phone insurance and breakdown cover all included within the £10/mth package.

  • There's no limit on the number of appliances and it covers up to £2,000 per claim with a maximum claim of up to £10,000 per 12-month period. However, it doesn't cover items purchased outside the UK, or 12 months before opening the account.

  • Your home insurance might cover you

Some home insurance policies will cover electrical items and white goods from theft and damage and breakdown.

'All-risks' cover usually includes items taken outside the home too. Simply check on your home insurance policy, A quick phone call to them is all you need to do.

  • Compare Extended Warranties

A free to use, extended warranty and service plan comparison website for domestic electrical goods.

http://www.compareextendedwarranties.co.uk/ is simple price comparison site where you can compare the price of warranties across a range of household items. It's run by four providers - Currys PC World, Argos, Domestic & General, Tesco - under an agreement with the Office of Fair Trading.

This comparison site often comes out best for single products, and for multiple products with low values, so check for the items you want to cover and see whether you can beat the multiple item policies above.

Be very careful when using this site as it can be confusing in the way it lists policies. For some policies listed you pay monthly, but others are priced for three or five years. Check that the price - and the cover - are suitable for your needs.

You can't click through from the comparison site to the provider, so you'll have to visit the warranty provider separately. Usually, you'll then need to call or visit a store as only a couple of providers allow you to buy online.
